Belgium Racing makes come back in Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux!

• Two-time champion Belgium Racing returns to Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux

• Program with new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup

• Nicolas Saelens and Dylan Derdaele contest full season

Belgium Racing returns to the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux in 2021. The 2015 and 2016 champion will be present for a full season with two copies of the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Just like in 2019, when Belgium Racing was last active in the fastest one-make cup in the Benelux, the Limburg Porsche specialist relies on Nicolas Saelens and Dylan Derdaele.

“I am happy to be able to race again in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux this year,” says Dylan Derdaele. “Last year, Nicolas and I made it to Belgian endurance champions for the second time in a row, but I thought it was a shame that sprint racing, and in particular the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, was no longer part of my program. In addition to those two Belgian titles, I always booked my biggest victories with Porsche; so you can say that I have a special bond with the brand. The fact that we can immediately race this year with the very latest generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup completes the picture for me. I am ready to leave corona behind us in 2021 and compete for victories and a new title! ”

2021 will also be a happy reunion for Nicolas Saelens with the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux. “The corona pandemic had a major impact on the past racing season and I am therefore delighted that we are aiming for another full season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux with Belgium Racing this year. For me personally this is one of the most competitive championships in our region. If everyone has identical material, you cannot hide. It will come down to details and experience, and then I think that with Belgium Racing we have the perfect partner! ”

Marc Goossens, Belgium Racing Program Manager, explains the choice for the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux. “There are a number of reasons why we are opting again this year for a program in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, after one season absence. First and foremost, as Dylan pointed out, there is a new model Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Because of our participation in the championship, we belong to a select group of teams that already have the new "type 992" at their disposal. Porsche is in Belgium Racing's DNA and we were sold from the first glance at the new car. In addition, there has been a major overhaul in the management of the championship last season and we feel that the new organization has laid a solid foundation to build on in the coming seasons. With Nicolas and Dylan as spearheads, we are again opting for continuity. They have known Belgium Racing for many years and I believe that collectively we will be very strong! Regardless of where we start, we cherish the ambition to win. In 2021 we also aim for victories and we also want to compete for the title. ”

The 2021 season of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux starts on May 1 on the world-renowned F1 circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. The calendar includes a total of six meetings, with two appointments in both Belgium and the Netherlands and an excursion to both the Austrian Red Bull Ring and the German Hockenheimring.
