August Porsche Addiction and Maxime Soulet join a promising starting field

- Team from French-speaking Belgium wants to compete for the prizes

- Test day on April 15 in the run-up to the start of the season

The start of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux 2022 is still two months away and the teams are now starting to announce their plans one by one. Many well-known names will also be present in 2022, but with August Porsche Addiction, the fastest brand cup in the Benelux also welcomes a new team. The structure from the Walloon Brabant Ohain in Belgium also does it with a very well-known name from GT racing: Maxime Soulet. The 38-year-old Belgian has an impressive track record and will undoubtedly become one of the contenders for the hard-fought podium places.

Team JW-Raceservice previously announced the names of Lucas van Eijndhoven and Sven van Laere, while Q1-Trackracing with Jan Lauryssen announced a first driver. Other teams will be making a lot more announcements in the coming days and weeks, so this weekend it was the turn of August Porsche Addiction. The team of Renaud Jamoul and Lionel Hansen was already introduced to the competition in 2020 and is now aiming for a full season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux.

“August Porsche Addiction is a relatively young structure and as the name suggests, we focus 100% on Porsche”, Renaud Jamoul explains. “We offer our customers track days and other events, we have a rallying program, but if we really want to prove ourselves with a Porsche, then the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux is the only real option. We will therefore choose that path in 2022. We found in the person of Maxime Soulet a perfect ambassador for our project and with Maxime, who we no longer have to introduce, we want to be at the front and fight for the win. This participation in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux is certainly not a one-off project for our structure, because we want to use a second car in 2023 and why not even take the step to the international Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in the long run. But first things first and that means the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux 2022.”

“The arrival of August Porsche Addiction means that we can welcome a first team from French-speaking Belgium”, Olivier Aerts, Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux-Series Manager, is pleased. “All the more so that the team also indicates that it may want to participate in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux and they are already looking over the horizon from 2022 to 2023 for the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux. Of course we are happy with someone like Maxime Soulet, who fits perfectly in the list of strong names that will start the season in Spa."

For Maxime Soulet it is not the first time in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, because in… 2014 the Belgian already started two races. Soulet is clearly impatient to get behind the wheel of the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Type 992: “That's right, I've always had a soft spot for the competitions with Porsche. They are intense races, with a beautiful car. We will have to pull out all the stops to finish at the front. This is a strong project and I am looking forward to the start of the season.”

That start of the season will take place on 15 April with the official test day in Spa-Francorchamps, while the competition kicks off during the Belgian round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps from 5 to 7 May.
